"We saved a turtle!"
So happy

Gigantic grasshopper
Today we woke up super early and took all our stuff on a big walk to our bus. We are going to Tortuguero today and it's so isolated that you can only get there by boat or plane. We are going by boat, but first we had to take some buses. When we got on the bus it took about 2 hours to get to our first stop. When the first drive was over we stopped at a place and had breakfast. For breakfast we had rice and beans. Then we went on a 3 hour drive to a boat dock. It took longer than usual because a banana truck had flipped on its side and was blocking the bridge on our road. At the boat dock we had a drink and then we left for our boat ride with our guide, Laura and our boat driver, Eric. The boat ride took 2 hours up the canals. On the boat we saw…a turtle, a crocodile, a sloth, a caiman and a lot of birds. When we got to our cabin we were greeted with a fruity drink. After a little rest and a quick swim in the pool, we took the boat to a big beach with Laura to look for baby hatchling turtles. After a long time we finally found a baby turtle that was not in good shape.  His one flipper wasn't very strong and he kept going in circles.  He only had 3 minutes left to get into the ocean or it would die. And we were not allowed to touch him so we waited and thought we were going to see this poor little guy die. We didn’t know what to do until we thought that we should put sticks beside him so he wouldn’t go in circles. Finally he got in to the water and stuck out his head so we knew that we was going to survive!!! J We were sooooo happy! On our way back we saw one more healthy turtle baby make it to the sea.  Then we left the beach and looked around the town for a bit.  Tortuguero is really cool because there are no cars there.  Then we took the boat back to the cabins and went home to bed.
