Escuela de Comunidad

Ready for our first day of school!

Making words in Grade 2
Today we woke up and my dad drove Mia and I to a school in Comunidad to learn what they do there. When we got there the principal took us to Grade 2 to start. In the morning we had to cut out the letters from the newspaper and spell words in Spanish, like pencil (lapiz). After that Mia left the classroom to go to Grade 6 and I stayed in Grade 2. After Mia went to Grade 6 everybody in the school got to go out for recess for half an hour. When we got back our music teacher came. Some of the things we did were sing Grade 2 songs and run around the classroom. When music was almost over, a guy came with a pair of fake teeth in his hand and a bottle. When the kids saw him they screamed and hid so I did the same thing. When all the kids came out of their hiding places he told us a little about your teeth. When he was done he took us outside and put whatever was in the bottle in our mouths for one minute to make our teeth nice and clean. When he left all the kids in the school got to go out for recess again for half an hour. When we went back in the kids were writing a thing about Bambi, the deer, in Spanish so it was hard for me. After that everybody went home for lunch and a new group of kids came. When Mia and I were having lunch we went up to the snack bar and got a weird ice cream thing for 20 cents. It wasn't really good. Also at the snack bar there was something I couldn't see because was flat on the ground. I asked the lady what it was and she said it was coka. I didn't know what it meant but I tried it anyway. It turns out it was a humongous coka cola! So I drank it super fast. When the next group came Mia and I both went to Grade 6. First everybody was doing their work, so Mia and I waited for them to finish. When they finished we all went outside for the rest of the day. They have a lot of recess in Costa Rica! When we were outside we played tag where all the girls were it and they had to tag all the boys. Soon there were only two boys left, my friend Fabian (who speaks a little English) and I. When there was only me left I was just running from everybody until Mom and Dad got to the school and took us back to our place and had dinner and went to bed.
Cool Fact: The school was really cool and fun because all you basically do is run around the class room and have recess.
