Rincon de la Vieja

I'm a sabenero!?!?
Today we got up and got ready to go on a trip to Rincon de la Vieja. A driver named Carlos picked us up and drove us to Liberia to go shopping to find me some shoes on the way there. After looking at a lot of stores with no shoes that I liked and fit me we finally came to another store called Arenas. When we got to Arenas there was a huge line up to get in because there were so many people shopping for Black Friday. When we finally got in, the store was so crowded!  I found some shoes that I liked that were too big but the guy who was helping us said I could wear two pairs of socks and I talked my mom into getting them. Finally she said yes but the line up to pay was very long but the dude who was helping us let us skip the whole line. Ya! New shoes! After that Carlos took us to the volcano to do some hiking. Our hike was going to be about 3 km. On the hike we saw a family of coatis, a capuchin monkey with a baby on its back and an agouti. After walking for more than an hour we saw a sign that said 7 more km!?! We didn't know where to go so we waited for someone to walk by. When someone walked by they said that there were still 7 km left and that when we got to the end we had to turn around instead of going in a loop. Finally we figured out that we took the wrong path!!!! So my dad and I ran back and told our driver what happened so he would not get mad about the wait. Even though we went the wrong way, the hike was still really nice! Finally, Carlos drove us to a hotel called Hotel Borinquen. On the way we saw a sabenero (a cowboy) with his oxen hitched up to a cart and we stopped to see them and take a picture. The oxen were really gentle and we even got to sit on them! When we got to Borinquen we went up to our room, unpacked and went down for dinner. Then we went to bed.
Cool fact: Oxen have a huge hump on their back to store fat.
