Soccer in the square

Just doing one of my favourite things...playing soccer in the square!

Today we had school in the morning as usual and in the afternoon we chilled out and worked on blogs while my parents and Auntie Karrie went to check out the inside of Sagrada Familia which they said was so amazing.  Later in the afternoon we walked around our neighbourhood (which we love) and I played some soccer in my favourite square and even saw one of my friends from camp.  When we were done we went home and had dinner and went to bed.

Poble Espanyol

Looking for clues at Poble Espanyol

Still looking!

Blending in with the locals

Mmmmm.....xocolate!

Making art at Caixa Forum
Today my dad took us up near the magic fountain show to a place called Poble Espanyol.  Poble Espanyol is an authentic Spanish village with no cars!  When we got there we got to go on a treasure hunt.  Our treasure hunt supplies included a telescope, a scroll, a rooster stuffy?!, and cards you looked through to match with different sights in the town like the fountains or decorations on the walls. First we had to find an eagle carved into the walls in a humonguous square. When we found it the map told us we had to go left and find a stone sculpture. When we saw that we knew we were on the right track (because it told us).  After that we walked up the stairs and found some cool roof panels and then a big tower with sparkle tile things. We also went into a garden that had only sculptures in it.  We found a big weird red and yellow one and one that was shaped like a slug. We also found a forest that was inside a building and a place where they made cool animal sculptures out of glass.  We watched them make them with fire and a big long tool and hammer. When we found the sun on the wall we were done (there was about 18 things to find altogether).  When we were done I asked my dad what was the prize and he didn't know.  So we asked the lady and she said that there wasn't a prize, then she gave us 20 euros!?  We left Poble Espanyol after a few hours of exploring and when we were walking down the hill a whole bunch of roller-skaters when zooming by us super fast right on the road!  On the way home we went to an art gallery called Caixa Forum where we made some art.  I made a person out of all different shapes and colours of stickers.  It was really fun to do the art and my dad left us to look around the art gallery which he said was really cool and had a wavy roof!?  After that we went home to bed!  Ciao!

Exploring the Gothic Quarter

Standing on Miro in the Ramblas

Super cool restaurant we went to in the Placa Reiel
Today after school we went with Auntie Karrie and Emie to the Gothic Quarter.  We started on the Ramblas where we saw all the same street performers posing, like the same dude we saw last time. At the end of the Ramblas we took a small street to a fairy-tale cafe that had trees in it and little dwarfs and stuff.  When we were there we didn't get anything, we just looked at it and left!  After the cafe it began to rain and we were still really hungry so we went to the Plaza Reiel and saw a cool restaurant called Ocana.  We had to go!  It was one of the best new restaurants in the Plaza.  I got patatas bravas.  They were soooo good.  I also got an orange Fanta and hummus and pita.  Then we went home and hung out at the flat.

The beautiful mermaid of Sitges
Today we went to Sitges with Auntie Karrie and Emie. In the morning we got up early and went on a one hour train!!  When we got to Sitges we went straight to the beach. At the beach Mia and I made water balloons and threw them around. It was fun. After the beach we went shopping and Auntie Karrie got a dress. Then me and my dad went looking for a place to eat but we couldn't find one we liked so we decided to eat when we got home. Later we thought we were going to miss our train but we ran all the way to the train station and got there just in the nick of time. Whew! When we got home we had dinner and the grown-ups went out to eat.

Most amazing firework show ever!!!

Making chocolate at the Chocolate Museum

I got Gangnam Style!

Fireworks AND the magic fountain
Today is a the last day of the festival.  When we woke up we went to a chocolate factory and made chocolate. It was chocolaty and fun!  Then we walked to the Parc de la Cuitadella where there was lots of things happening for the festival.  We saw a stage where you can go up and dance in a group.  When you were up there you could pick a song out of a list. We were hoping there was Gangnam Style on the list but there wasn't. After a few dances we looked up on the song list the word Gangnam Style popped up and me and Mia started yelling, "Yes! Gangnam style! Yes! Yes!" He asked us where we were from and we said Canada. Then he called us up on stage to lead the dance with other kids who would copy us!!! It was really cool. Later that day we went to the humongous fireworks show with Marcella and Arturo at the Montjuic Magic Fountain!!! At the show we got little sparklers to hold in the air when they played the song "Barcelona". It was really amazing.

Check out the end of the firework show. It's crazy!!!

Correfoc Fire Run

Here come los diablos!

Fire dragon

Barceloneta beach fireworks

This morning I woke up and I was upside down on a bed in Jonathan’s house? Then I remembered I had slept the night!!! Later that morning when my mom picked me up we planned to see them later to check out more of the festival. Then we went home and had a rest and left for the Jaume square to see the human towers.  But when we got there it was sooo busy and we couldn’t even see anything so we decided to go for lunch at a square in the Born district. At the square me and Jonathan rode his scooter and I played soccer with some other kids. When we were done eating we decided to go down a street where there was a guy selling cool things that dance when they hear music but Kayla said that on the news it said they were scams and also because she bought some and they didn’t work. So we told him they don’t work and it’s a scam and he acted like didn’t know what we were saying. After a while of watching him a lot of people came and started buying them. We told them they didn’t work but they didn’t understand.  But then a couple minutes later the police came and arrested him!!!!! We were happy J That night we went to see the Correfoc Fire Run. It's where all these devils come out of the Gates of Hell and chase people with fireworks and sparklers.  They roll on the ground and chase you and sparkle everywhere.  It's really loud, like guns getting shot off.  Peeuu! Peeuu!  Then we walked to Barceloneta beach to see some fireworks.  They were big, but not the biggest!  The biggest were going to come on the last day of the festival.  Then we went to a restaurant outside in a square and had dinner that was really lovely.

Festa de la Merce

Graffiti in the square

Colours

I'm a casteller!

With Emie
Today was the start of the Festa de la Merce, a big festival to celebrate the end of summer. We started in the Placa Catalunya where we did grafitti at a grafitti workshop. I made a random thing with lots of colors.  Then we walked around a little bit more and saw a place were you could stand on a man's shoulders and practice being a casteller. They asked us if we wanted to try and we did it!  After the festival we went to the beach with Kayla and Jonathan and their mom.  The moms and Auntie Karrie went to Boo and Dad stayed at the beach with the kids.  At the beach we made a movie and played in the water. After the beach I went to Jonathan's for a sleep over. When I was there we made a train track and played Dance Central on the X-box. Then we went to bed.
